Iconic singer Tina Turner has passed away at the age of 83 after a prolonged illness. Known for her energetic stage performances and hits like “Proud Mary” and “What’s Love Got To Do With It,” Turner had a remarkable career that spanned over six decades.

Born Anna Mae Bullock in Nutbush, Tennessee, the American-Swiss singer won eight Grammy Awards throughout her career. She achieved great success and recognition, receiving stars on both the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the St Louis Walk of Fame. Her autobiography, “I, Tina,” became the basis for the 1993 film “What’s Love Got To Do With It,” which portrayed her turbulent relationship with Ike Turner. Angela Bassett’s portrayal of Tina earned her an Oscar nomination.

Turner retired from touring in 2008, ending a remarkable chapter in her life. She married German music executive Erwin Bach in 2013 after living in Switzerland with him since 1994. Prior to her marriage to Erwin, Turner endured an abusive relationship with musician Ike Turner, to whom she was married from 1962 to 1978. In her 1986 book, she courageously shared her experiences of abuse, including incidents of physical violence.

Ike Turner passed away in December 2007, and at the time, Tina’s spokesperson stated that she had had no contact with him for 35 years. Despite the challenges she faced, Tina remained resilient and persevered in her career and personal life.

In recent years, Turner battled health issues, including being diagnosed with intestinal cancer in 2016 and undergoing a kidney transplant in 2017. Her legacy as the Queen of Rock and Roll and her powerful voice will continue to inspire and influence generations to come. Tina Turner’s impact on the music industry is undeniable, and she will be remembered as one of the greatest entertainers of all time.
